Frontier BBS

If you want to go old-school (and why not seeing as we’re harking back to the 80’s and 90’s), my games are available for download on the fantastic FrontierBBS. You can reach the board and the community in two ways:

Web: Visit https://frontierbbs.co.uk

If you really want to relive the nostalgia of a BBS, grab yourself a copy of SyncTerm (click here to download). In the address book, scroll down until you find FrontierBBS, from there you can load the BBS. If for some reason the BBS isn’t listed, or doesn’t connect, you can create an entry with the following details as shown in the screenshot

Ensure that you connect to frontierbbs.co.uk via Telnet on Port 23

Viewing the BBS on a Commodore 64

Frontier BBS uses some fancy-pants ANSI text to look pretty. Regrettably, our beloved Commodore 64 terminal screens just can’t handle those modern-fangled ANSI graphics, meaning if you try to view it on real hardware, things are going to look incredibly weird.

Down the line, we’ll try to convert the BBS files into plain, old-school text alongside the ANSI graphics so you can get the full C64 experience. But until then, you’ll need to step into the future (well, the 90s) and view it on a Windows PC using the software listed above!
